Peninsula Clean Energy, or PCE, is San Mateo County’s official electricity provider. Peninsula Clean Energy offers lower rates and the added benefit of two electricity options, each with a different percentage of sustainable energy.
Peninsula Clean Energy will be rolling out clean energy to electricity customers along the Peninsula starting October 2016. On July 18, 2016, residents who fell into Phase 1 (20% of residents and small to medium size businesses) received a notice by mail. All residents and businesses will be automatically enrolled in Peninsula Clean Energy with the option to opt-out. Enrollment groups have been selected at random by neighborhood to ensure an equitable county-wide process. If you would like to start receiving clean energy in an earlier phase you can enroll now as early adopter.
ECOplus is the default electric option, in which you’ll be automatically enrolled during your designated phase. This option includes, lower rates, 50% of your electricity will come from renewables and is 75% carbon-free
ECO100 is the best option for those who want to reduce their carbon footprint to help make the greatest impact in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This option includes; 100% of electricity will come from renewables, it is 100% carbon-free and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions globally.
