Helen Wilmot is the Senior Vice President, Chief Facilities, General Services & Sustainability Officer at Stanford Health Care.

At Stanford Health Care, Ms. Wilmot oversees a wide range of operations and planning functions that support the clinical services, patient experience, and continued growth of Stanford Health Care. Ms. Wilmot has played a key role in major activations such as the “new” Stanford Hospital at 500 Pasteur Drive, and driven initiatives to bring new technologies, processes, and strategies for efficient facilities operations and services.

In her General Services role with a staff of 2,000+, Ms. Wilmot is responsible for the management of more than 2Msf of hospital, clinic, and administrative space. Her enterprise-wide General Services team includes engineering, food service, housekeeping, security, and parking for 120+ buildings spanning the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, Ms. Wilmot leads the space utilization program that governs and optimizes the use of existing space across the enterprise. In 2019, Ms. Wilmot led the operational activation of Stanford Health Care’s largest expansion, a new 800Ksf, 368 bed hospital, an 8-year $2B investment to expand Stanford’s medical campus. The New Hospital, along with a complete refurbishment of the existing hospital campus (6-years, $1.5B), incorporates principles of sustainability, lean management, and patient centric care.

As the Sustainability Officer, Ms. Wilmot leads Stanford Health Care’s sustainability and decarbonization programs that focus on energy management, greenhouse gas emissions and waste management. In an enterprise-wide collaborative effort, the programs include clinicians and operations, evidence-based clinical practice changes, infection prevention, environmental science, and engineering. Ms. Wilmot launched the programs at Stanford Health Care and has developed partnerships across the industry, with government agencies, and within the Stanford University community most notably Doerr School of Sustainability.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Wilmot’s career has touched many aspects of health care delivery, including direct patient care, large-scale operations, senior management of inpatient and outpatient facilities, information systems, and consulting in operations re-engineering.
