SAMCEDA Team Updates

In 2024, SAMCEDA's President & CEO, Rosanne Foust was named one of the inductees into the 35th San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame.

She was inducted alongside the County of San Mateo’s BHRS Office of Diversity and Equity’s Dr. Maria Lorente-Foresti, Build Up San Mateo County’s Christine Padilla, CoastPride’s Jenny Walter, Half Moon Bay High School’s Catalina Gonzalez Johnston, and El Camino High School’s Maya Thompson.

Rosanne continues on multiple boards and in leadership roles of the following: NOVAworks - Workforce Investment Board, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, San Mateo County Event Center, Greenbelt Alliance, Bay Area Council Economic Institute, San Mateo County Transit District’s Measure W Citizens’ Oversight Committee, Provident Credit Union's Supervisory Committee, Heritage Bank of Commerce's Peninsula/Stanford Advisory Board, San Mateo County Community College District Foundation, Notre Dame de Namur University, California Forward's California Stewardship Network, and Chamber San Mateo County.

SAMCEDA’s Marketing, Communications and Operations Manager, Larisa Ocañada, was appointed to KQED’s Community Advisory Panel and continues to serve on College of San Mateo's President’s Advisory Council.

SAMCEDA held its 71st Annual Meeting featuring "THRED Talks" - Weaving Our Region Together event at The Farallon Room at Skyline College in San Bruno in June 2024.

This year’s “THRED Talks” highlighted the importance of: commercial development, the airport industry, education, small business/artificial intelligence, and the Port of Redwood City.

SAMCEDA Business Roundtables

SAMCEDA convened virtual Business Roundtable events to provide an opportunity for the County of San Mateo’s Board of Supervisors to hear from the business community.

SAMCEDA members shared their perspectives, priorities, and visions for growth & improvement in San Mateo County.

The Business Roundtables generated significant enthusiasm and SAMCEDA looks forward to continuing to bring together both current and newly-elected officials and its members for meaningful discussions that will shape the future of our community. 
 


Chamber San Mateo County’s 55th Annual Progress Seminar

Chamber San Mateo County held their 55th Annual Progress Seminar event at the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine County in Santa Rosa.

SAMCEDA’s President & CEO, Rosanne Foust served as co-chair for the event, alongside fellow co-chairs: County of San Mateo's County Executive Officer, Mike Callagy, San Mateo County Central Labor Council's Executive Secretary-Treasurer's Julie Lind, San Francisco State University’s Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management’s Dr. Jamillah Moore.

The weekend-long event kicked off with an outdoor strolling dinner and reception on Friday, where elected officials, community leaders, and business professionals gathered to connect and network.

The following day, Progress Seminar participants actively listened to informational sessions on philanthropy, democracy, artificial intelligence, and more.

To close out the Progress Seminar on Sunday morning, Co-Chairs, Foust and Lind, held a closing general session with Candidate Forums featuring California 16th Congressional District Candidates and the San Mateo County 4th Supervisorial District Candidates.

Driving Innovative Solutions for Childcare: A San Mateo County Leaders' Forum Chamber San Mateo County’s 55th Annual Progress Seminar

In April of 2024, elected officials, community leaders, and business professionals gathered to attend Driving Innovative Solutions for Childcare: A San Mateo County Leaders' Forum at Genentech in South San Francisco.

SAMCEDA, in partnership with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF), and venue host, Genentech, presented the event which put a spotlight on the importance of childcare and how crucial it is for San Mateo County’s growth and prosperity.

Attendees were eager to learn more about the topic, explore opportunities for action, and hear from childcare advocates.

“This event was a great way to highlight the childcare needs while inspiring solutions through collaboration and action,” Rosanne Foust said.

South Bay and Peninsula High Road Roundtable

The South Bay and Peninsula High Road Roundtable was a 18-month initiative that was co-convened by SAMCEDA, the San Mateo County Labor Council, the South Bay Labor CouncilSOMOS Mayfair, and Working Partnership USA.

         

Over 400 stakeholders from labor, community, business, education, environmental, and local government sectors across Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties convened to re-envision regional economic development planning to develop a pilot program of high road jobs.

San Mateo County Economic Regional Report

Through our partnership with the National Economic Education Delegation (NEED), you can get up-to-date economic research.

Their San Mateo County Regional Report features the economic and demographic overview of San Mateo County including: employment growth, population and housing, poverty in the region, industry reports (e.g. life science, manufacturing, technology, etc.), commute patterns, and more.
